BEND, Ore. — La ciudad de Bend tendrá que buscar a un nuevo alcalde luego de que su actual alcaldesa presentará su renuncia.

Sally Russell dijo que el motivo de su renuncia tiene que ver con el estrés generado por la pandemia, los incendios forestales y la falta de vivienda. Ella recalcó que simplemente está agotada.

Bend solía ser una ciudad tranquila, pero recientemente ha revivió como un destino para esquiadores, amantes de la cerveza y jubilados.

En los últimos años, han surgido campamentos de personas en situación de calle y en ciertos días las montañas están oscurecidas por el humo de los incendios forestales.
